When it comes to being "Just freinds" sometimes there can be hope and other times your stuck with a choice of whether to put up with the rejection or walk away.
When it comes to being "Just freinds" sometimes there can be hope and other times your stuck with a choice of whether to put up with the rejection or walk away.

To have a friend is a wonderful thing. A person to talk to about whatever is on your mind at that moment. Going to the beach with them and even splitting a pizza over small talk as the wave’s crash against the shore. These are great things are they not? I would agree. But what happens when something that was once to you so innocent, suddenly starts to feel like a tidal wave of emotions that hit and leaves you speechless. This my friends is the point of no return. The point at which you feel that something is different about the way you look at that person. This is the point at which you must way out your options. For your friend has become your love interest.

When it comes to this point in your relationship with this person, lines are stretched and hearts are sometimes broken. You are caught in a whirlwind of your inner most emotions. You think “what do I do?” and can you tell them how you truly feel without ruining something that you yourself don’t want to lose. This is the time of questions. Because if you go on and say nothing you will be slowly torturing yourself and barley sleeping at night. And if you do go ahead and tell them how you truly feel and you get totally rejected well what then. You have to make a choice and you must weigh out the consequences as carefully as possible.

So you go on talking with them and hanging out and as all this happens you feel yourself slipping up on lines and quickly masking Freudian slips and I love you’s. It’s hard but you ask you’re self how many times they are going to take your excuse for saying “I want to vacuum”. At this moment your starting to look to them like either a clean freak which is nice, or a gosh darn Kirby sales person. So finally fed up with your teetering and taughtering you work up the courage to tell them how you feel. And with that you are greeted with the words that all have dreaded “I just want to be friends.”

So this is where things get hazy, because you know that you want nothing more than to be with this person. You ask yourself if you can go on as being friends with them or are you going to have to call it quits. When asked Jiselle Munoz a student at NECC had said that if she had to choose that “I would take it as is and try to see what happens.” While Emily Henderson was cited as saying “I believe that it depends on how we were as friends, because time is essential when it comes to relationships.” This to me was good and truthful but when it came to John Njoga the answer was quite the opposite. “I would feel insulted by the rejection”.

So could it be that men and women have different opinions on this subject. Well I don’t know the answer is up to debate truly. But it does not change the fact that you may just have to go on and let time take care of it. All in all if you feel that you can’t go on and you must part ways then do so. But know that if you go and walk away then you may be losing not just a great friend but a good wing person. So if you get to the point at which you are feeling a little out of the ordinary about your friend. Remember the consequences of your actions. And know that with time you may just win their hearts.

This leads to another question: Can men be friends with a woman - even a pretty woman?
